New member...

muffetly is always telling me just how fab you lot are, so I figured why not join too...

so I did!

I'm what you call a serial crafter so there's not a lot I've not tried - at the moment I'm doing a LOT of polymerclay and jewellery (just finished tiara's and necklaces and a wedding cake for a friend of mine).

I adore parchment craft and I'm a Pergamano© registered tutor and have a specific UK LJ for Pergamano - which is a bit slow, but then again I've not really promoted it - will post some pics of my creations here - it's truly a fabulous craft with mega WOW factor. You start with a piece of parchment (like heavy tracing paper) and you end up with something that looks like lace...

Anyway - here are some of my favourite 'creatures' and some other creations...

that's all for now...will post more pics when I've been creating
Can't wait to 'meet' more of you

holy sh*t that fan is effing AMAZING!

It was really easy to make - but the endurance factor is a bit of a tough one - after making 4 of those 'blades' I was DONE! lol

Give it a go - there are some tricky techniques as you get more into it, but once you've mastered them - it's SO easy!

Those are ADORABLE critters, and wow that fan is gorgeous. I'd love to see how it was done.
Aug. 1st, 2006 11:29 pm (UTC)
thanks *grin*

The pattern is really basic...
have a look at a single 'blade' you'll see how simple it is.

Then you trace it with white and gold ink onto the parchment paper - you emboss the flowers and the thicker white bits from behind - then you pierce all the 'holes', cut them out and start another blade........

do 12 of them (without losing your sanity!) and then thread a ribbon through the bottom hole and VOILA!

thanks a lot *hugs*

see above comment for my reply on how to make it

That fan is gorgeous. How sturdy is it? Could you actually use it, like with a costume? Or is it more to put under glass and hang on the wall?

Aug. 1st, 2006 11:30 pm (UTC)
Hey Angie - thanks *hugs*

It's not very sturdy, but I can imagine if you managed to reinforce it with some wooden rods and make it like a proper fan you could use it...

but as it is, it's framed and in my mother's living room

Hey, welcome aboard! :D

First, I LOVE those cute little animals. The snowglobe is great.

Secondly, the fan is lovely. It looks like it took a lot of work!

Hey - thanks *hugs*

I love my weewee's © - I need to get a pic of my fairy snowglobe so I can post it - one of my favourites, but she lives with a little girl already (didn't get a pic - DOH!)

The fan took AGES - well probably not so long, but after the 4th blade I was losing the will to live! LOL

Aug. 1st, 2006 11:41 pm (UTC)
I'm really sorry that it's not very active, but it seems like it's a very new craft for LJ
It's just me and another member at the moment and the last post was in November *blush*

I'm hoping to pull my finger out and get cracking with more posts soon pergamano_uk

please feel free to join - but like I said, there's not a lot there yet ;)

The eyes! The eeeeeeeyes!
The sheep remind me of Shawm from Wallace & Grommit. I want to give them all a bunch of tiny little polymerclay cookies =3
Aug. 2nd, 2006 08:47 am (UTC)
I know what you mean about the eyes! The truth is that while I'm making these little guys I'm actually doing a LOT of giggling - I LUUUUUURVE their eyes the mostest - it's what makes them you see =)

and squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee @ the thought of tiny polymerclay cookies - I want some lots!

I like your clay critters a lot! I can see that with some of the cats, you mixed the colours a bit, how'd you go around to do that?
Aug. 2nd, 2006 12:30 pm (UTC)
Thanks muchly *hugs*

I use FIMO and pick a few colours that I think are suitable.
I roll them into 'snakes' and then twist them together, roll them again and this way I just marble the clay till it's got the right 'consistancy' of colour.

Hope that helps

That fan is gorgeous and looks like it would be fun to try (maybe one blade a day, lol), but what I'm squealing over in the PENGUINS! SO CUTE!
