i have a question. instead of using glue could you still print out the stencil on contact paper and stick the contact paper on the sheer curtain type material? would that work as well? i just know my hand gets shakey sometimes and i don't want to put glue somewhere it isn't supposed to be or not have my lines straight or anything.

I don't see why that wouldn't work...Post results if you try it!

ooh clever
someone put a link to this on craftser... you're very smart, i hadn't thought of using an embroidery hoop as a small silk screen... and now it seems so obvious, thankyou

i tried using old stockings, ha. didnt work.

Hmmm...Old nylons worked for me before. The sheer curtain material type stuff you can find at Walmart, craft stores, fabrics stores, anywhere really.

I haven't tried that yet, but I'm sure it would work fine.

okay, i did it and it worked wonderfully, my only prob was this: when i put the modge podge on the screen, what kind of brush should I use? I had a hard time with details and the modge podge had slipped and gone into the lines. Do you use a fairly small brush?

Aslo, how many coats of the modge podge did you put? I put a few just in case, but I was curious if one is fine, too.

Thanks so much :)

I didn't have a terribly small brush, just a variety of cheap-o ones. And I only put one layer, but am always sure to check that there aren't any holes in the glue.

If you only want to use the screen once, then yes. I made my first with regular Elmer's (not watered down) and when you rinse out the ink, the glue rinses out too.

i was just wondering if it went funny after puting it in the wash?

thanks for the tutorial
