General Gift Wrapping

I very much like to make a nice presentation when I give a gift, and I have come to love simple rustic wrapping. Using general kraft paper and jute from the dollar store is inexpensive, gender neutral, and gifts can be decorated for just about any occasion.

I wrapped this gift today for my young niece's birthday, using an idea found on Pinterest. The bird was cut from card stock with a page of a book glued down using a glue stick, and the twig was compliments of my lilac tree.

Organic, green, lovely in its tribute to nature! Also it is refreshing :)

And also contains words to read! You have no idea how very hard it is for me to cut up book pages, it's just so wrong, even when the book is a lousy read.

I have heard that more than once when giving a gift. I often tell them that they may end up liking what's on the outside better than what's on the inside.

Simple and elegant, and it would stand out from all other presents.

Lovely! I've done this myself, without the beautiful detail. I like the look of the twine wrapped around the brown paper, and sometimes intertwined with a piece of silver or gold embroidary floss-It gives a really pretty rustic look to the package.

I've also recently started stamping names on the gifts (recent, as in, this past Christmas, when I realized I'd have to distinguish one gift from another under the tree!!). I bought a set of letter stamps for $1 at Target, and also a stamp pad from the local dollar tree, and it worked out perfectly, so there's ANOTHER idea if you like stamps!!
