Nifty Wrap Pants

Oh man. These pants are so comfy, cheap and easy. The cloth cost me about $2 (you need around 2 yards for a pair of pants) and it took me about 20 minutes to make them.

How to make your own:

How to put them on:

1. grab one side and wrap it around your waist
2. tie it in the back
3. pull the otherside under your legs and it around the opposite way
4. tie in the front. yay!

This is why I need to learn how to sew! Those look so amazingly comfortable. How hard would it be to make them so that the 'slit' that shows on the outside there in picture 4 doesn't go so high up. I aint got no sexy legs like you to show off and they are SUPER white and often unshaved. Not that I mind if they show, but the general public might. Would buttons work? Or even some grommets or something to lace them closed perhaps?

Ugh. I am going to have to learn how to sew just for this now!

I'm sure you could add buttons, frogs, or such to close up the slits. Be creative, call it a design element!

I was looking at a McCall's or such pattern for these last month, trying to wrap my head around the concept (pun intended). Thanks so much, now it makes sense!

are the blue dots supposed to be at the other end of the diagram? from your pictures it seems that way, but maybe i'm missing something?

The circular cut out is the crotch seam (it goes between your legs) and then you pull apart the two pieces of cloth and basically wrap one around each leg. Trust me, its right.

Yes I love these! I'd ordered some dragon printed ones from the Gypsy Rose catalogue over five years ago. So simple! Now I can make them myself in whatever patterns I want!.

Thanks for sharing!

Neat! Thanks for the tutorial. Do you have any suggestions for the type of fabric that should be used?
Aug. 10th, 2007 06:30 am (UTC)
So far I've seen them made out of cotton, linen, canvas, rayon, spandex/nylon and it's all seemed to work well. Depends on your preference really. I think the lighter fabrics are better.

This is great, can't wait to have a go. Similar in concept to the thai fisherman's trousers i love without the bulky waistband if your tiny. Thank you!

Ah, I love these pants. Had a friend who always wore them, but the ones available at festivals never fit me. Now I have to make my own.

Now if I can still wrap my brain around how the crotch part is actually connected lol!!!
