I made a flying squirrel house!, and jazzed it up a little using a woodburning tool that I had asked about here

inside of house and closeup (I didn't design this pattern, I found it online somewhere. I think it's the name of a record label, that's why he's holding a microphone.):

from the side :

The day I was putting the finishing touches on it, the Merriam-Webster Word of the Day was :
nidus( \NYE-dus\ ) noun
1 : a nest or breeding place; especially : a place or substance in an animal or plant where bacteria or other organisms lodge and multiply
*2 : a place where something originates, develops, or is located
The lettering is a little primitive, I skipped woodburning in camp LOL... and the imprint of the squirrel was done with a flat tool that transfers laserjet images onto another surface. Pretty neat. I'm hoping some residents take up soon, they have two litters in a year, and tend to return to a site year after year if it's to their liking. There's metal around the entry hole to keep out bluejays and ground squirrels. We have the critters around here, they've been 'brought' into the house by one of our tenants
