those pesky not for childrens wear ink stamps on edges of materials

8:43 pm - 03/15/2006
I got all my material expect the stuff from a swap rangled into apropriate sizes and lengths I was a lil sad though that some of my frog stuff the frogs had to be cut through. I always feel bad about that.

Does any one know if the stamp not for childrens nightware will wash off? They put it on all cottons and flannels and it's irritating cause it's right there in the middle of everything, however I always make the hem of the blanket hide the ugly stamp just in case.

Are you talking about the very edge of the fabric, where they sometimes do a color test too or print the name of the fabric company? I always cut those off (usually they are white & unprinted), and I think you are supposed to because it is not woven the same way. Oh, and if that is what you are talking about, then it will not wash out.

Also, are you pre-washing your fabrics before you sew with them? Fabrics all shrink differently in the wash, so you want to shrink them before you sew them together so they will not warp after they are sewn together. Also, it will remove the sizing (protective coating) the companies put on the cloth.

yes. It's the very edge of the material. I don't cut it off because it'd take off to much of an already kind of skimpy amoutn of material. and is quite frankly a waste because like lets say it was a stamp, like ----- thatlong, but to remove it you have to take the whole yard of other wise perfect material, so something this long --- wastes this much material -------------------

And on these ones the edge's not white, it's same color as resta fabric. so it hides *really * well

I hem it under where you can't see it lol. And no I don't pre wash, I was and it was making my unfinished edges ravel to pieces n that made the edges un even and stuff and made me have to cut all the little strings off.

If the material feels obviously treated I wash it, heck yeah, but if it's nice soft clean stuff I don't
