Soaps

My boyfriend gave me a Melt-N-Pour soap kit for Christmas and just today I finally got around to making some soaps. This is my first soap attempt and it was really easy and fun.

They are glycerin with added color and scents. Actually, I forgot to add scent to the blue one, but it will still work as soap. Next batch I will try painting the dragonfly and grass different colors before pouring the soap into the mold.

Questions: What kinds of things can be added to glycerin? Things like oatmeal, coffee, etc.? Any ideas for molds made from general things around the house?

My mom and dad got me one of those kits for Christmas! I love it.
Your soaps are pretty!

Thanks! Have you made yours yet? They were a lot easier than I thought they would be. I was stressed out about ruining a pot by melting the soap on the stove. I wanted to do it right - the microwave seemed like cheating. But eventually decided that if I was ever going to make the soaps, I just needed to DO it. So I bought some cheap measuring cups at Wal-Mart and melted it all in the microwave. SO EASY. And clean up was easy! It's just soap, after all.

Mine came with a melter. Maybe we didn't get the exact same kit, but I loooove it.
