it is FINISHED and presented to the boy. it's knit with stockinette, and the characters are stitched on using duplicate stitch. the black yarn is malabrigo, and the other colours are various superwashes.

the giftee and the aforementioned scarf

closer inspection reveals that one side has normal super mario characters on it...

and the other has the smushed/dead versions of the same characters on it. the ghosties, fireguys and stone turtles are on both sides cuz they don't die.

You must have put a LOT into this scarf and it really shines!
Great job! ♥
And what is duplicate stitch?
I bow to you!

That is awesome!

That is a thing of great beauty. I'd pay a gazillion dollars for one. F'reals.
okay I am going to shut up now. I've most definately been up waaaaaaay too long.
i have no idea what crochet is all about :)
and now i must make a confession:
while scrolling through this entry, i wrote the following comment in my head: "oh holy wow, you win. any way i could buy one from you?" only to then turn around and tell MY boy that i made it for him.
shame on me.
but thumbs up for your AWESOME scarf.
just....
wow!
before i viewed the cut i was expecting like a plain scarf with a mario toadstool or something but this one is truly super mario!
and i have to concur
... and the smashed characters on the back make it a gajillion times even more amazing
(Curses my non-knifting hands, I am a KKer!!)
Oh yea, and the scarf rocks. I am inspired to resume my old knitting projects ^_^;
