hope I casted on enough!

Hey y'all!
I decided to try something new this winter and make a hat on my #5 circular needles instead of my #10 1/2 needles.

I've been looking for free patterns, but can't find any hat ones for size #5 circulars.

Anyone out there make a hat on #5 and care to tell me how many they cast on to start?

thanks and season's greeetings to all your crafty peoples out there!

My basic hat pattern is 80 stitches worsted weight on #8 circs. I tend to knit a little on the loose side. If I was going to go down to #5s I would probably do something like 90-95 stitches, but that's just based on how I knit.

You can figure that out with gauge.
If you don't know how:
Knit a square any size you want in the stitch you plan to use on the needles you're using.
Count how many stitches per inch you end up with
Measure your head, or the head of your choice
Do some math (stitches per inch times number of inches around)
Assuming you want some stretch, drop that number by a bit

thank you so much! I had a stitch gauge, but never really knew how to use it.
