Ok, so I'm making my best friend a beanie with my knifty knitter.

He really loves the style of beanies that has the little mini bill in the front.
Ex:

I know how to make the brim that goes all the way around the hat- but I don't know how to make one of those. I don't care about the square shape- just the bill.
would it look weird if I only folded over only a small portion of the already knitted part onto the pegs and stuck a little piece of curved cardboard... or something in between (like how you would for making the brim)?

I hope that makes sense.

Thanks for all of your help, ladies!

dont use cardboard.. you might want to go with the thinner plastic canvas stuff. cardboard can lose it's shape, bend, get soggy, etc... you can find plastic canvas in any craft store :)

Yeah I wasn't actually thinking of using cardboard, it was just the first thing I thought of.
Thanks!

well the only thing i can think of doing is only doing the brim part way around instead of all the way like normal.

Yeah that's what I was saying... but I wasn't sure if it would look weird or not.
Thanks!

It can't hurt to try.

yeah you can always try it and if you don't like it you can just undo it.

i have no idea, sorry, but i figured the kniftyknitter would be way too loose for a ha liek that.

i tried my aunts and i was shocked at how loose the stitches were

I've made them tighter by instead of going around twice on the pegs, I went around four times and then pulled the two bottom rows over the two top rows.
