Making Pants Bigger?

Alright, here's the deal. I looked in the memories for this but found nothing so here it goes.

I have tons of pants that are too small but the length is perfect. They aren't way too small, but on the hip they are tighter then I'd like them to be.

So, how do I go about making the waist bigger? By just a little bit?

I am not good at sewing whatsoever so is there an easy way to do it?

unless you have extra material.. you can't.

unless you can move the button or something..

On my husband's work pants (they are similar to Dickies) there's extra seam-age along the ass-crack of the pants. I just take a seam ripper to it, the sew closer the edges of the seam to give him more room.

I don't know if this can be done with the pants in question, but you might want to see how much room there is to work with, and if re-stitching it will make much of a difference.

You can add narrow, straight strips of fabric into the sides. Rip out the side seams and put the strip of fabric in there to give you some extra room and add a bit of decoration. You can have fun with it using cool fabrics. Plaid, camo, lace, fabric printed with your favorite cartoon, anything.

my brothers friend has this thing once it was like a little piece of fabric with a button hole on one end and a button on the other. you get the fabric to match the pants. you put the new button in the hole originally on the pants and the other end the old button goes into the new hole.

make sence?

that is what it looks like.

it looks pretty easy to make if you cant find it to buy.

yeah the button isn't the biggest fashion statement! lol

I always wanted to do that to old jeans that i had (the higher rise ones) but i never knew how the zipper would finish or anything...do i just have to remove the zipper all together?
