I want to learn how to knit. I have crocheted before, and kind of learned how to knit but want a refrsher and would like to start to knit regularly. I have looked through the memories, and found a few sites to help me but, I can't seem to find a site to explain how to start everything. Anyone set me in the right direction. Thank You!

I like this site: http://learntoknit.lionbrand.com/

However, there are many ways to cast on, and some people prefer certain methods to others. I would suggest looking around some more, and picking a cast-on method that your fingers enjoy most. after that, most stitches are pretty standard. If you have a Borders near you, I recently got a great clearance book that has full-color photographs along with the directions. It's a fat book called "Quilting, Cross-Stitch, and Needlecraft," and while a lot of the projects are kind of cheesy, it's a good book for picking up basic techniques. It was also only $5 or $6.

http://www.knittinghelp.com/knitting/getting_started/ helped me a lot. There are tons of videos to download, so you can actually see the stitch being done. That way you're not just staring at a picture, trying to figure out if you did it right or not. ^_^

I don't know if what I'm going to tell you will help or hinder, but here goes. If you are re-learning, try to learn continental method (holding the working yarn in your left hand). It will fit in with your crochet experience and, in the long run, is the better way to knit, in my opinion.

The best tip I have for the continental method is how to hold the stitches in place on the left needle. When knitting, hold the stitches on the left needle with your thumb. When purling, hold them on with your middle finger.

The videos on knittinghelp.com are really great.
