I just started knitting, and my first project is a 2 color striped scarf. Can anyone tell me how to seamlessly blend the 2 different colors? I've tried splicing the second color in, but the results aren't quite what I was hoping for. Help!

What I like to do is start the new color at the beginning of a row, always on the same side. Just trim off the old color, leaving a tail that's a couple of inches long. Hold both colors together to keep the stiches tight and then start using the new color as your working thread. Once you're done with the scarf, use a crochet needle to blend in the tails. Does that make sense? I can clarify if need-be.

You can also use a tapestry needle (big chunky needle with a large eye). That's why you should always leave nice long tails. :-)

Thank you! I understand completely and it seems to be working. Yay!

If you're talking about the "zipper effect" that you get when you add the second color, there's not a lot you can do about that; it's a byproduct of the way the knitted stitches are formed.
