sewing machine hell

5:59 pm - 11/23/2002
earlier today my dad and i went to walmart and chose the "Omega Deluxe Denim Machine" because it seemed like our best option.

we've been trying to get the thread loaded for two hours. the instruction booklet is not detailed at all.

it says how to put thread into the needle from the top, and the bobbin is inserted in the bottom. then it says to bring it up through the hole, and pull the top thread to get it to....work?

am i just dumb, or should i go get another machine with the top drop bobbin? because this takes way too long to thread.

hopefully someone can reply to this before i go back to walmart for help......

* the carrying case it came with is a joke. it's just a plastic cover with no bottom. not very protective.

yes that's what i meant:)

ok we used the pedal to connect them but now the bottom bobbin is not turning. in the book it doesn't say how to it should look in the bobbin "compartment" and it only fits one way.....

are all machines this hard to start up?

The bobbin only turns when the needle is in certain positions (ie for proper tension). So try turning the wheel until it turns.
If that doesn't work, the bobbin thread may be tangled. Have a look and if that is the case, rethread it.
Sometimes the bobbin will be in the wrong way, but if it only fits one way, then that can't be the problem.

My guess is that it is probably the needle position. Let me know if this helps :)

A short length of thread should be pulled out from the bobbin before you insert it in the bobbin casing, and pulled through the slit in the casing so it lines up for the upper thread to catch it. Have you done this?
