colors are sticky

I'm the owner of a cast-off laptop that I'm finally getting around to doing something with. I've never had one before, so if I sound like a dork, that's why.

It's boring on the outside, and it needs help. My current plan is to decorate the lid/top/flat part that does that lifting-up thing (is there a term for what that's called?) with stickers, and I thought I'd request some suggestions from all of the varied, awesome people I've seen on here. It's not a large surface (wee little item that it is), so smaller ones might be better.

So...are there any stickers you've seen around that you loved/thought were hilarious/just had to have? I have a few from bands that I've seen live [but alas, not from my very favorite band, since they don't do stickers and I am without sticker maker], and I'd love to add some creative, fun stuff to the mix.

Do what I did on my desk - I scanned and printed my favorites. They will then get as big as you want them without being of very bad quality.

Ditto, with above, but here's my 2 cents. Last week I came into posession of a sticker maker at Walmart for $15. All you do is take what you want, slip it into the "machine" (That's the ironic part, no batteries, no AC adapdter needed) use the crank, & it comes through with an adhesive backing. It may not work with large pics though (like some of the Bumper Sticker varity).

Keep an eye out for sharp looking "tapes" that they sell to stick on lockers or whatever this time of year. When I was a freshman in college I deocorated my laptop around the borders with this great holographic silver tape. Also, colored electrical tape works well to cut shapes/stripes out of and doesn't damage the plastic of the case.

I know you were planning on decorating it with stickers but here's and idea for you to think about. Why not cover it with fur? Just go down to your local fabric store and buy some fur. Make a cover and slip it onto your monitor. You don't even have to sew it I guess - just staple. Just make sure you can close the top. It might not be your taste or anything but it's an idea.

I know that if you print off your favorite pictures on your computer you can bring them into kinko's andd they will copy it onto adhesive, sticker-type paper. It's pretty cheap too, at least it was when I went there.

These are all such great ideas--exactly what I was hoping for, Thanks so much!
