alcohol earrings!

8:14 pm - 06/25/2004
for those that love their alcohol in any way, shape or form (beer, coolers, wine, shots), this bud's for you! these earrings are freaking alcohol molecules and dangle from sterling silver earrings. i'd like to think this is original and appreciate respect. *pleasant smile* really, i'm just addicted to getting lj comments filling up my inbox.

black = carbon

white = hydrogen

red = oxygen.

Those are entirely TOO awesome! I love them! Seeing as how we can't "steal", how much would you expect one to pay?
cordelia_sue 25th-Jun-2004 08:55 pm (UTC)
Is it stealing if you freely post an idea on the internet? Isn't that what this community is about?

The "steal my sh*t and die"?? comes across a bit like an undercover ploy to sell the objects to me :-\ or maybe that's just me.

Some of your earings are fabulus, tummymunkey, but this is a community about sharing ideas. This is not a community to sell things in. It's very clearly laid out in the userinfo, and no matter how discrete the weblink, your series of jewelry posts, with absolutely no tutorials, helpful advice, and the "steal my sh*t and die" phrasing would lead me to believe you are here to sell your stuff. I would hope I am wrong and I see posts that are more helpful to the crafting community here from you. This community is all about sharing. That's what we do here. It is not about getting PR for your sales site. I will have to pull any posts that seem to have the sole intention of sales. I have been getting several emails over this.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

And if I might add, not as a mod but as a community member, these constant veiled ploys for selling stuff strike me as terribly tacky and very egotistical. Like you're somehow above the rules, or your stuff is better than the rest of ours, so you should be allowed to sell it. In addition, you never answer any questions about how to do something, or where to source materials, you only answer questions related to selling items. I think that's really lame.

What is particularly ironic about it is that she posted a necklace here about a month ago based on someone else's idea.

(I do like the earrings. But posting to this community is about hording your ideas.)
weaklikekitten 27th-Jun-2004 07:28 am (UTC)
ha! Is NOT about hording your ideas.
cordelia_sue 27th-Jun-2004 11:06 am (UTC)
Yeah, I remember that necklace. It wasn't anything she made. She just put a pendant onto a chain, posted it here, and lo-and-behold!, sold it.

"steal my sh*t and die"?? if you don't want people ripping off your ideas perhaps you shouldn't post in a crafty community where people are so, well, CRAFTY.

Very cool, I haven't seen alcohol ones before. My friend's kids made bead & wire molecule jewelry at daycamp.
mari_confused 26th-Jun-2004 03:29 am (UTC)
Haha, that's awesome. You have even got the OH groups correct! That's ingenious =)

tummymunkey 7th-Jul-2004 10:32 am (UTC)

laila_sama 7th-Jul-2004 10:41 am (UTC)
do all of your picturse turn out with that quality or do you just pick out the better ones?
tummymunkey 7th-Jul-2004 11:02 am (UTC)
i usually take anywhere from 3-12 pictures of each item just because some will turn out blurry from the lighting being too dim to prevent this blurriness. however, if i had a tripod and a proper lamp, i could do 1 shot of each.

i do do a lot of photography in general though and i definitely don't take more than one picture of each thing.
