sea shore necklace

I was born in florida, and the ocean is perhaps the only thing I really miss about it. There's a kind of fringy, deep reddish seaweed that always washes up on the beaches, and it's one of the things I remember most about my childhood there. I used to poke through the seaweed, looking for tiny shells and crabs and such that had attached themselves to it.

so while I've been forced to stay home with an evil cold, I decided to make a necklace to support a pretty hill tribe silver starfish pendant bead I recently bought. of course, I had to make it resemble the seaweed that I remember so well (and still poke through on occasion whenever I visit). I also used lots of little copper button pearls, olive green rice pearls, and olive green dancing pearls to give it even more of a sea weed effect. I spent many hours on this necklace, and it's my most intricate piece yet.

Unfortunately it does not suit me at all, and so I will probably be putting it up for auction at some point.

Wow -- a great necklace and it really resembles seaweed beautifully! You should try to consign it in an upscale jewelry boutique or something!

that's amazing. That is truly art... bummer it doesn't suit you, though! Maybe frame it? That's almost too beautiful to just sell to someone...
