Felt Flowers

Hi grrls! I have a Mardi Gras theme party to attend tomorrow night, and could not find a suitable flower to stick in my hair. After a couple of hours of shopping, I gave up and made these out of felt instead. I think I will use the red one either as a hair tie or clip.





What do u think?

oh thanks! let's just use the red and black as an example.

1. i cut out 5 identical tear shapes out of the red felt, then cut slightly bigger ones out of the black.
2. layering one red petal on one black petal, i took the round end and pinched a "V" to add interest (so that the petal isn't flat) then stitched the "v" fold in place.
3. repeat step 2 with 4 other red-black petals.
4. i arranged the five petals as you see them, and glued the overlapping bits with superglue.
5. you may wish to reinforce with stitches.
6. i then cut out the centre bit in black, and glued it on. you can't see it v. well in the pic, but as in the pink flower, i stitched in some details with contrasting thread, and a bead in the middle.
7. for the back (which presumably has hideous stitching), i cut out a round piece of felt and glued it on, sandwiching an elastic band. voila ... hair tie!

oh i forgot ... the petal shapes can be round too. when you're done gluing / stitching everything, you can then trim the edges of the petals to your liking. :)

Ooooh! I've been looking for little flowers just liek that. Very loverly. I thought somethign like that would look cute stuck to the shoulder of a shirt.
