Help would be much appreciated!

This is kind of a craft question.

I have a really old Caboodle (it's like a tackle box for makeup) and I wanted to use it to organize craft tools and materials.

Problem: Years ago perfume spilled inside. The inside reeks of cheap drugstore perfume and I just about die gagging every time I open it. Is there any way to get the stink out!?

Thanks in advance!

If I overdose with perfume, I usually take it off with rubbing alcohol. If your box is plastic, you could try wiping it down with that.

wash it out with baking soda and water, rinse it well.

you can try the following:
let it sit in the sun (open) for a few days

stuff it with crumpled newspaper, close it, then replace the newspaper a week later, repeat til the scent is gone.

put a tub of activated charcoal in it, close it, then let it sit for a week, replacing the charcoal weekly as needed.

good luck!

and then rub it down with water/vanilla extract :-)

ahh, vanilla can do so many useful smelly things.....

unless it has a mirror in it, maybe try putting it in the dishwasher?

I thought of that too, but it's a HUGE Caboodle with a mirror. :( Thanks anyway, I got a bunch of suggestions so it should be ok.
