Victorian Door Knocker Necklaces!

Hi Craftgrrls!
I feel like it's been forever since I posted. I recently started making victorian/georgian inspired lion head doorknocker necklaces. I've hand-painted several of these brass pieces to resemble other types of metal, attached a bail, and made some cool necklaces out of em.

Here is my first one an aged bronze one:

another shot of the bronze:

aged brass:

aged copper:

aged pewter:

and my favorte (of course) A color-shift metallic that shifts from blue to purple to copper depending on the way it's held!

Thanks! And not at all, I actually use automotive paint, that way the paint is designed to be weatherproof, not chip or scratch, and still be metallic.

Scuse me, lemme just bust right on in here-- I've been wondering about automotive paint (I've been painting a lot of things that will sit outdoors all year, and I've heard it's better than regular spray paint). Where do you buy it? Does it come in a spray can all ready to go? Is it easy to work with?

And I freakin' LOVE those necklaces!!

So, you can get it at any automative store like autozone, advance auto parts, and walmart in the auto section. The kind I used was spray paint(make sure you use an automative primer paint, too), with acrylics and then an automative sealer. But now that you asked if it was spray paint, I wonder if the paint pens they have there would be good, too. I find it easy to use, the only thing is the paint should cure for several days to even several weeks before it becomes durable. The color shift I have on the one pendant is actually the paint I used for my wheels, and I've had it on there for a year without any scratching, chipping, or fading. And those wheels drive through some nasty Pennsylvania roads, so I can definitely attest to the paints durability.

Nice - I ESPECIALLY like the first and last
The last has such a "by the neon lights of night" feel that contrasts with the age of the knocker.

Also .. since no one else is going to make the joke....
