Dec. 26th, 2012

Here's a quilt I made for my sister-in-law for Christmas... I love this one... the first I've ever made with all solids.  It was tough to give away, but I think she genuinely loved it, so it was well worth my stiff neck:

And here's another quilt that I made for my new nephew Simon. (Please note that I have officially tried making the LJ cut work eight times now to no effect.  Sorry!)

Both of these pieces are genuinely lovely - your time and effort really shine through. Something about the first quilt makes me feel comfortable. It looks warm and simple and is completely delightful. What a wonderful talent you have. Thank you for sharing. (:

These are lovely! I've been searching for some simple quilt designs lately...would you be willing to share the patterns (i.e. quantity and size of pieces)?

I'm sorry, I can't be much help in that department... I don't ever use patterns! I can tell you that in the top quilt, the coloured pieces are 2 inches square (finished), and there is 3.5 inches of cream fabric between them. The border is maybe 12 or 13 inches?

For the bottom quilt, I cut 6 inch squares of each fabric. I put a white square and a blue/green square on top of each other, right sides facing, and sewed around all four sides so it was all closed in. Then I cut each one from corner to corner (like an X) and got four blocks (of a white triangle and a coloutred triangle) from each. Hope that makes sense!

Solids quilt are my favorite. I loooove that top one.

The print one is really nice as well. All the fabrics go together nicely.

Thanks very much! I like solid quilts so much, too, but unfortunately, most of my fabrics are patterned so I don't work with solids very much simply for financial reasons. Ha ha.

These are fantastic! I especially love the blue/green one, as I'm partial to those color pairings. Wow, your family is very lucky to receive them and you are extremely talented!
