Quilled note card

9:58 pm - 08/17/2012
Hello all!

I just want to share my first finished quilling project :) I made it for my friend and co-worker who is expecting a baby girl :)

First, I was trying to make a sketch, but I'm aweful at drawing. So mostly I kept the idea in my mind :)

First of all, I had to make nice wording. I was thinking that foiled letters would be looking great, and I was right :)

I printed the words on heavy cardstock on laser printer, and applied special laminating foil. The foil sticks only to tonner. After rolling it through laminator couple times, I got pretty much good looking foiled "It's a GIRL!" sign, that later was cut off with scalloped edges and glued to a blank note card base.

Then, I made several quilled flowers and leaves...

...and applied them to the note card base.

The note card, actually, was a part of a gift from a group of gals from our work. That's why I printed joined greeting from all of us, cut it off, and glued it inside the card.

This is a finished product. :)

That is gorgeous! And I must say, that foil stuff is neat-o... makes me want to go buy some! I've always wanted to try quilling, too... just one of those "Maybe one day...." sort of things. Anyway, I'm sure your friend will love and cherish that keepsake! Great job!

Thank you :) Unfortunately, this foil is not something widely used. I found it in sheets only at eBay. It's also sold in big rolls, but they are really huge for me... Quilling was also "maybe one day..." for me :) The idea to make the card was pretty much spontaneous.

She got the card today. Shame on me, I misspelled her name on the inside printing, but there was no time to fix it. I found out this mistake at work :( Anyway, she was happy with the card :)

Thank you :) I'm selling photo cards-) But I'll think about the quilled ones, too :) I guess they'll fit my Etsy shop :)

It looks so effective! Beautifully done!
I didn't realise that foiling products like that existed; think I need to do some research, hmm!
