A craftgrrl at jazzfest

Yesterday I went to my first Jazzfest. Lived in New Orleans pretty much all my life and never went... that's kind of a sin. Anyway Jazzfest is not only known for it's music but also for it's arts and crafts.
Image heavy! You can see all the pics I took here the ones below are just *my* favorites

Laura Maclay designs - These are handmade quilted handbags

Alexis Silk - Glass art

Mellissa Schmidt Contemporary Glass Jewelry
These were pretty neat. She takes film and pictures and traps them in blown glass balls.

Joel Hunnicutt
These are wood! I love his use of color!

L. Balombini

Kathy Schorr Designs
These are silk paintings.

Wiwat Kamolpornwijit
These are all polymer clay without any paint applied. My pics do not do them justice. I've never seen polymer clay jewelry like this.

John Flemming
These are all leather!

Susan C Clayton These are sculpted out of stoneware.

Rachael Depauw ceramics

Bryan Gunningham

Mardi Gras Indians. All of the costumes are handmade and often take a year or more to make.

The kids were beading in between performances.

I wish I knew this artist's name. I love these.

Now we move to the Louisiana Craft tents...

Bonus points to whomever can find my name on this soon to be quilt...

Those large pendants? That's made of alligator. Made by artists of the Houma Nation.

A basket in progress

A finished basket!

These are made out of Garfish scales!

Everything is beautiful and wonderfully made. I think that's going on my list of things I want to do, go to Jazzfest.
