Decoupage for jewelry question

5:03 pm - 04/10/2012
This is my first time posting after much lurking. : )  I am wanting to use ye olde Mod Poge to cover flat metal pieces as are used in stamping with paper prints. I haven't done decoupage in *years* and never in this sort of application. Any pitfalls I should watch out for? Many thanks in advance for your help!

Use thin coats, especially when adhering the paper to the metal. If you put it on too thick the paper tends to wrinkle and bubble. Wait at least 15-20 minutes between coats. If you want a resin-like finish on top, you can use Mod Podge Dimensional Magic for a raised, thick look. I love that stuff!

You can find lots of great info at the Mod Podge Rocks blog.

Thank you! I was hoping for some reassuring knowledge. I'm off to experiment!

Its fairly easy to use... Like someone else said, the key is multiple light coats until you reach desired look.

If you're not covering something entirely, make sure you watch your edges, so you don't get paper curling up. It's easy to use, good luck with your project!
