ISO: 8 track tape ideas?

I recently picked up boxes-upon boxes-of 8 track tapes from a store that is going out of business. The guy was going to throw them out, but some of the art work is just so cool- I took them all off his hands. So now what?
I want to make something awesome with them, probably some sort of jewelery or home decor item. I can't think of much but collage.
I have been crafting alot lately and I think I might be tapped out. Help?
Any ideas???

I've seen purses/makeup bags made by attaching fabric and a zipper to the halves of a cassette tape...I bet you could do the same with the 8 tracks.

it takes a little work to dismantle and transform the plastic, but i managed to convert cassette and 8 track casings into notebook / sketchbook covers.

Well there are tutorials for cassette tape bags (big ones like purses) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-5ePKiCYd4o

There's also 8 track walets:

I remember someone on craftster used to make mixed media art with them. Can't find the post though. :(

Here is an 8 Track tuned into a base charger for your iPod or iPhone. I would LOVE to do this but alas, I have no 8 track tapes. I'll be on the lookout for one though.

Use the 8-track tape to crochet something. This tutorial shows how to do it with VHS tape. I'm assuming that 8-track tape would work the same way...

crochet purses and items using 8 track tape - tape
I just wanted to add that when you crochet with 8 track tape (the tape in side of the 8 track case lol), it is thinner then the VCR/VHS tape, but more like cassette tape, but a bit smaller still....It makes it nice to crochet with, and I make beach bags, without lining (not needed), and they do not get ruined by getting wet! You just take a damp cloth and wipe it right down...If spilled on you can wash in sink by hand real easy with a dot of liquid hand dishwasher soap. THEY do make great crochet baby bibs as well for the same reason, takes a licking and keeps on ticking with just a wipe down, and a easy rinse off! My last creation was I crocheted black out blinds for the windows that face the hot Nevada sun. These have worked great to hold out the hot Nevada heat in the summers here, and very very easy to make, and again, when dusty or dirty, just wipe down.. I actually used the hose outside to wash the black out blinds as they were too big for my sink..and let them hang dry out in the "shade" for about 15 mins and they were completely dry (used tight sc on these) and didn't want to bend over tub with bad back. So you never want to use item you make around a "hot" heat source, like you would not want to make pot holders for the stove/oven with these tapes..... tape melts if in direct HOT sunlight or exposed to a other "heat source" You do have to be careful what you use the tape to make. Oh great place mats can be made with these as well lol.... Just wanted to add my experience with crocheting with 8 track tape. I received many large boxes of 8 tracks when my Mom passed....funny in 2003, she bought a brand new van from a dealership, and then asked for a appointment to have her 8 track player installed. They thought she was joking but she was 100% serious, and she had it installed the next week by someone who didn't think she was crazy, and yes it worked like it was brand new!.... She wasn't crazy she just loved her 8 track, and had 1,000's and 1,000's of 8 track music! I am sure she is watching from above since 2008, watching me tear apart the 8 tracks and crocheting with them....She would say, well that figures, she was always my crafter/crocheter! This is what she would have wanted me to do with them as well. Tried selling some hank williams, charlie pride, johnny cash, and not even the elvis mint condition ones I was only offered a dollar for....I sold beach totes for $15 and it took about 2 and a 1/2 8 tracks to make one,,so i made more by not keeping them as music. and such but no one wanted to give you much for them..I even checked with collectors out of Las Vegas and they were only willing to give 50cents a piece...I think they thought I was dumb and would go for it,,,the guy on the phone freaked when I told him I was going to break them apart and crochet the tape into items. he said no please I will give you 1.50 for each I said, no I will still make more by making items and selling the items...and I DID! Had to change my phone number as the guy in vegas kept calling me about ever 3 days for almost 6 months still wanting them ...... I have made more money selling the items I make with the tape then I could get for the "vintage" mint condition items! Including the paper sleeve each 8 track came in when you bought it.....Amazing beautiful adopted Mom I had since I was 12yr old, and now, well lets just say I am 50 something..and have been lost without my best friend my Mom since 2008....I don't think I will ever pull out of the grieve and depression from losing not only my Mom, but my best friend....Thank you for letting me add my comments here. I just signed on with my face book, I hope I did that right. lol... Thank you for taking time to read my post.

Use the tape as crochet/knit material to make totes or hand bags ... if you crochet and/or knit.
