Craftgrrl Crafts for Charity: Pillowcase Patrol!

Ok craftgrrls! Let's get this going!

We're going to be making pillowcases for Mary Bridge Children's Hospital and delivering them To Sew Expo's Pillowcase Patrol

LJ has agreed to be the collection point for our pillow cases. So when you are done making them send your package off to:

c/o LiveJournal Inc.
580 Market St. Ste 500
San Francisco, CA 94104 USA

From there they will be shipped off to mschilepepper who will take them over to Sew expo.

In order to get them there in time the pillow cases must be received no later than 2/22/12.

If you can't sew but can embroider/cross stitch you can buy a standard size pillow case and beautify it all up.

I'd really like to collect 900 pillowcases which is about a months supply. It's ambitious and probably unobtainable but lets give it a try! Please spread this post far and wide so we can get all the help we'd need to possibly reach that goal.

As someone who has spent a lot of time in a hospital, let me just say that this is such a wonderful idea. Any little comfort such as this can make a difference even if it just brings a smile to a child in such a sterile and often scary setting.

I know. Before katrina I still had the blanket given to me when I was in the hospital as a child.

What a wonderful idea! I'll definately see what I can do. I can imagine that something fun to make the kids smile and feel even a little better would be much appreciated.

Actually, I said I don't mind if people send me the packages directly. I guess they'd have to contact me or you for my address, but that's a minor issue. I just figure it's best to eliminate one more step and one more possibility that things could go astray. How much would it suck if all the craftgrrls' efforts went kaput via a lost package?

That's a great idea! I personally want to thank you for taking the initiative to do something wonderful to help sick children who need all the love and support they can get.

what would the finished size of the pillow cases need to be?
I would like to make a few, but would do better knowing what size before starting.
I saw 20X30 in one of the tutorials but the others didn’t have finished measurements. is this a good size?

Looking around the web it seems anything from 20x30 to 23x32 seems to be considered standard size. So within those measurements I suppose.
